rev. dr. Kirt moelling
Rev. Dr. Kirt E. Moelling was the Senior Pastor of St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, a suburb of Tulsa, before joining us here on June 23, 2019.
Previously, he served pastorates in Oklahoma City (Lakeside) and Lamont. Prior to entering the ministry, Kirt practiced law in Amarillo, Texas for twelve years, where he had the good fortune of meeting his wife, Sha’rie (shuh-ree). Together, they have two wonderful sons, Nathan (24, Evanston, Ill.) and Matthew (21, a junior at OCU).
Kirt was raised a Methodist preacher’s kid in Oklahoma, where his father (Eldon) and mother (Mary) served UM churches for over 50 years. Kirt received his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Oklahoma City University, his Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, and his Master of Divinity, magna cum laude, from Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa.
Currently, Kirt serves on the Conference Board of Ministry (incoming chair, Conference Relations Committee) and has previously chaired the Conference Board of Church and Society, serving also as a member of the Oklahoma Conference of Churches IMPACT Committee.
On the District level, Kirt has served as a Trustee, as a member of the Committee on Ministry, and has also served at MANY District and Conference camps.
Kirt loves God’s creation; enjoys hiking, photography, reading, learning, writing, music, humor, sports, gardening (mostly tomatoes), and spending time with his family, including “Honey,” a Golden Retriever.
Matt Borum (Associate Pastor)
Matt is the Associate Pastor, appointed to the church summer of 2018. Matt is a native of Oklahoma, making his way from Midwest City all the way to Kingston Oklahoma. Matt is a proud father of two beautiful children, Tristan and Adaleigh. Matt and his amazing wife Megan have been married since July of 2010.
Beyond Matt’s love for the church and ministry, his passion is helping people meet Christ and grow in their relationship together. Matt has served at the University of Central Oklahoma Wesley Foundation, where his ministry got started in 2015; this is also where Matt’s love for student and Young Adult ministry started.
Matt’s hobbies include being with his family as often as possible, coaching his son’s youth baseball team, and anything having to do with the outdoors.

Michael Horn (Youth Director)
Michael joined the church staff in the Spring of 2017. He is a Texas native, growing up in the small town of Granbury, TX. He moved to Oklahoma to attend Oklahoma City University, earning degrees in Youth and Family Ministry and in Sociology. Shortly after, Michael married his wonderful wife Cari and the two have put their roots down in the Oklahoma City area.
Michael is passionate about helping people grow spiritually and live out their faith each and every day. Michael has been a Youth Pastor for 3 years and believes that Youth Ministry is where he is called to be.
Outside of youth ministry, Michael likes to spend time rock climbing, playing disc golf, being with friends, playing and coaching soccer, and watching his favorite sports teams play.

Heather Pope (Preschool Director)
Heather Pope was born and raised in El Reno, Oklahoma. After graduation from El Reno High School she attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. That is where Heather met her husband. Heather graduated with a Bachelors in Elementary Education. After graduation from college Heather and her husband moved to Yukon. They have two sons.
Heather’s sons attended Yukon Kids First Preschool when they were younger, so Heather was involved with the program as a parent, volunteer, and board member before taking over as director in 2010. Heather and her family are grateful to be a part of the First United Methodist Church and Yukon Kids First.
Heather enjoys watching and taking pictures of her sons playing sports. Heather and her family enjoys watching NFL football, hiking, biking, and really just being outside!
Jim Custer (Business manager)
Retired from Blake Enterprises after 34 years as a partner and area supervisor.
Joined the First United Methodist Church in 2007, and started working at the church in 2009 as office assistant and data entry.
Ginger Strong (Communications & media associate)
Ginger Strong was raised in Yukon and graduated from Yukon High School in 1985. She married Stan in 1988 and lived in Texas where she continued her career in Retail Management. They moved to Piedmont OK to be closer to her large family, and began raising their three daughters. They joined the First United Methodist Church in 1994. And she has now joined our staff in April of 2019. She is looking forward to beginning some exciting media option for our church.
